California School Superintendent Tony Thurmond and California Surgeon General Dr. Ramos have co-authored a letter uplifting the Office of the California Surgeon General’s trauma-informed training. Safe Spaces: Foundations of Trauma-Informed Practice for Educational and Care Settings is a free, self-paced, online 2-hour training designed to help individuals working with children and youth recognize and respond to trauma and stress.
“Safe Spaces is skill-based and gives individual’s tangible strategies to help students experiencing an overactivated stress response. It also includes strategies for education personnel—recognizing that self-care is key to creating trauma-informed environments.”
